Teddy and Surrey Litter – Week Seven

“The Mother of the Year Award goes to…….”

Of course the winner is Surrey. She’s truly demonstrated her prowess as Supermom. Not only has she continued to nurse her puppies well beyond the “don’t touch me stage”, but she’s become their ultimate playmate. On one occasion, Surrey was outside to look after her personal plumbing needs. Afterward, she returned to the living room door, pushed it open, stole into the whelping box and removed a toy to take outside. Then she beckoned us to bring the puppies outside to play with her! We oblige her whenever possible and when the weather doesn’t cooperate, she catapults herself into the whelping box and plays with her little ones for impossibly long sessions.  What a gal!

Surrey is the ultimate playmate!

Of course, mom is the young puppies’ first teacher and she frequently held group tutorials. Surrey’s new hobby is to watch for wild turkeys as they enjoy their morning work-outs by walking around the property and bark to chase them away. One day, Surrey had the whole gang in tow as she marched them around the perimeter of the fence line, no doubt training them to be on the lookout for trespassers.

This week, the puppies experienced their first car ride to the friendly veterinarian. The ride there was a wee bit noisy, but despite that, everyone was on their best behaviour at the clinic and passed all of their examinations with flying colours. On the return trip, the group quickly succumbed to the rhythm of the road and had to be pried out of their crates to come back inside the house.

Our last week with the puppies is always rather bittersweet but more so because this bunch is particularly affectionate. As our time with this sweet mini-pack draws to a close, we reflect and cherish every moment we’ve spent with them but find comfort in knowing how much happiness they will bring to their new families. They have given us so many kisses and memories that we’ll treasure always.

So long, little ones. We wish you all the best in your journey, but most of all, we wish you love.

P.S.  We’ll be looking for your picture postings on Instagram! #regalgoldensfamilytree

Bronson and Tulip Litter – 7 weeks

We're 7 weeks old today! It has been an adventure-filled week! It was the puppies' first-time riding in a car! Introducing them to new experiences begins at this age. Rides in cars, sounds, meeting new people, etc. Our puppies are often taken to Home Depot, Winners, Homesense, Petsmart, and other pet-friendly stores after they receive their next set of vaccinations. While they still ride in the shopping cart, their horizons are broadening. We’ve expanded the puppies play area which is either in our kitchen, outside in the yard or on our porch depending on the weather. They enjoy playing together and are becoming more and more confident. Their play area includes toys an activity center, a crate, and tunnel.  Jolly Pets' Jolly Ball was a huge hit today. The puppies seemed to take turns carrying it! All of them weigh between 13 and 15 pounds. Their appetites are good, and momma Tulip occasionally stops by with a vanilla milkshake. Beef, turkey and chicken are among the protein

Bronson & Tulip Litter– Week 6

A very happy 6 week birthday to this eye-catching litter! We are loving every minute we have with this litter and the weeks are flying by. The milk bar continues to be provided by Tulip who is an excellent mom. We had a wonderful time outside in between the rain showers this past week. The pups are confident and didn't seem nervous at all. Immediately they were at ease in their new surroundings, sniffing and exploring this new exciting adventure. Each time they go out, they explore further into the backyard but are always under the watchful eye of Tulip. This litter continues to be very quiet, which means they are very happy and content. They are all approaching 10 pounds in weight and it amazes me from one day to the next how quickly they grow up.  Mom begins weaning the pups and teaching them discipline. Through puppy play-biting, the pup learns bite inhibition and socialization with its siblings. Normal behaviour at this age. Six-week-old puppies still have a lot to learn from t
